• Working Together
• What is Addiction
• Rehab Treatment Programme
• Aftercare and Recovery

Our sessions are delivered by people who have their own personal experience of coping with their family member in addiction.

The sessions also give the family members a chance to ask questions about addiction, behaviours and aftercare for both the family and the person in recovery.
Activities provided for children and families:

No regular on-site activities for families.

Families visits are arranged after an initial period in treatment when the resident is emotionally ready.

Family visits are usually scheduled for Sundays and we work with residents and families to arrange suitable times.
Post treatment support:

There is a comprehensive aftercare programme included with all rehab placements which incorporates follow-up counselling sessions, telephone support and regular on-going aftercare groups supported by staff and other ex residents.

• Follow up counselling sessions are arranged as part of the placement
• On going telephone support is provided and check-in calls suggested
• In-house recovery meetings available for residents and ex residents
• Participation in off-site mutual support meetings is encouraged to support new residents

We have a fully accredited NVCO approved peer mentoring programme which we offer to all residents towards the end of their stay which enables us to provide the essential support during the critical period when they leave.

Admission and discharge information:
Assessment and admissions:
ESH Community accepts referrals from service provider organisations nationwide, commissioning authorities or direct from prospective residents who can self refer into ESH Community.

A pre-admission Referral and Assessment Form needs to be completed for all prospective residents.

Potential detox requirements and the implications of any currently prescribed medication are assessed by our consultant psychiatrist. Residents must also meet our physical and mental health criteria.

If circumstances allow we suggest clients come to visit the facility to complete the pre-admission Referral and Assessment which also allows us to have a face to face discussion about expectations and needs.

Alternatively a telephone call can be arranged to complete the referral and assessment form.

We understand this referral and admission process can be a stressful time but our staff will make clients welcome during the visit and help to reduce any anxiety.

Family are also very welcome to attend if desired during the referral and assessment visit so we can answer any questions and alleviate any concerns.

Potential admissions will then be assessed for suitability based on the referral and assessment form and existing physical or mental health conditions and potential risks identified during the assessment process.
Additional admission services:

Collection from local train station if required.
Discharge policies:

Safe discharge encouraged and supported which could include transfers to home or other safe place.

Whenever possible we will postpone the actual discharge so that it can take place during office hours, allowing a discharge plan to be put in place working in conjunction with families and local service providers.

Service user reviews:

All of the ESH Community staff actually care very deeply about us but it’s their humanity, love and support that make ESH a family. Their support after the 3 months didn’t stop there. They all support me now after my 3 months rehab. It’s an honour to have been here and I want to say again thanks for saving my life. - Stuart

My short spent time at ESH has brought me to a new beginning in my life. With the experience and support of the dedicated team and other service users, I am no longer helpless and hopeless but now hopeful that I do have a life and a future….a future built on solid foundations of honesty, commitment and positivity. - Simon

I was so fortunate that I found ESH and been given the opportunity to rebuild my life, All the ESH staff truly put their heart and soul into their work and it has made a huge difference in my life I can’t thank the ESH staff enough, it’s a debt I that I will not be able to repay. – Grateful Resident

I cannot recommend ESH Community high enough. Community is exactly what it is. Everyone here and involved here are family. I came in with no hope for the future, fully stuck in addiction. With the help of all the experience of all the amazing staff and volunteers I found strength to try what is on offer here. The journey has been painful at times, I have cried, but most of all I have cried tears of joy, with laughter. I have a bright path ahead of me. I have hope. – Dan

On a more personal level, ESH has helped me achieve my biggest period of abstinence from alcohol/drugs to date, and it is due in no small part to the program here, the wonderful place, and the experience and warmth of the people who run it. I have never felt more at home away from home, thanks also to the comfortable rooms, and the freshly made food! There is always somebody here 24/7 on-hand to help, which is also a comfort, particularly at first when I was settling in. - David
